Men's health research wins $3 million

Researchers with the Freemason's Foundation Centre for Men's Health at the University of Adelaide have collectively won more than $3 million in project funding to continue important research into men's health and wellbeing.
A research team led by Professor Gary Wittert, Mortlock Professor of Medicine and founding member of the Freemason's Foundation Centre for Men's Health at the University of Adelaide, has been awarded $1.76m by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to support the Florey Adelaide Male Ageing Study (FAMAS) for the next three years. Launch of the Centre
On 2 October 2007, the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men's Health was launched at The Art Gallery of SA. Approximately 200 people gathered together to celebrate the achievement of establishing this ground breaking research centre.
The guest-of-honour for the night was Sir James Hardy OBE. The SA Minister for Health, the Hon John Hill MP spoke. The Adelaide Male Voice Choir entertained and inspired us with their music. Mr Phil Smyth, AM, Head Coach of the Adelaide 36ers was the emcee for the evening. Professor James A. McWha, Vice Chancellor and President of The University of Adelaide was the official host and welcomed everyone. Mr Graham Bollenhagen, Grand Master of the SA/NT Freemasons spoke as did Professor Gary Wittert, Head of the School of Medicine, The University of Adelaide.
