Centre Has Significant Potential Reach

The Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men’s Health has a significant potential reach into the community through:

  • All Australian Freemasons and their families – through our partnership with the Freemasons Foundation, we have established regular quarterly postings to all SA / NT Freemasons (approximately 6000 members). Through the national initiative Waste Your Waist, this audience will increase to all Freemasons across the country (approximately 50,000).
  • The SA Government and all SA members of parliament (MP) – two of our patrons are MPs and so far we have been in regular contact with the SA Minister for Health. These links have already provided us with one opportunity to brief MPs about the Centre and our patrons have agreed to disseminate our news on a quarterly basis to all MPs.
  • The Media – three of our patrons are media personalities covering major radio (5AA), print (The Advertiser) and TV (Channel Nine) outlets. We have established a relationship with the local ABC and are currently working with them to develop specific opportunities for men’s health education and associated media exposure for the Centre. We anticipate this will become a long term relationship.
  • Business leaders – seven of our patrons are leaders in industry and provide an excellent access point to engaging with the business sector for the purpose of fundraising, public relations and the development of our workplace health program.
  • Health professionals – through our men’s health service, we intend reaching out to all health professionals with continuing education programs. Through our senior clinicians, researchers and relevant members of our Scientific Advisory Committee, we have the potential to develop strong links with health professional associations reaching out to all registered health professionals in SA.
  • The SA research community – Centre research membership draws from all three major universities in SA and a wide range of disciplines. In addition, our Scientific Advisory Committee includes 10 research leaders in men’s health from across the country. Our capacity to reach out to a multidisciplinary research community is also significant.
  • Men of all ages, from all walks of life – The most important of all is the men we intend to serve. Our intended audience is men of all ages, from all walks of life, and their families. We already communicate regularly with the 1200 men participating in FAMAS. Once the men’s health service is operational we intend to engage in a planned public relations campaign to market the Centre’s services and programs to men and their families. All of the groups mentioned above will be utilised in this campaign.
