Information for Students
Welcome to Adelaide Microscopy, with one centrally located laboratory within the Adelaide CBD and another at the Waite Campus. We house the University of Adelaide's Light, Electron and Confocal microscopes in addition to a suite of other tools including X-ray microtomography and sample preparation equipment. Many postgraduate students of the University are trained each year to use the equipment independantly at Adelaide Microscopy and their departments are charged at nominal student rates.
The centre's microscopes provide high resolution imaging of biological (tissue, plant etc) and physical materials down to nano-dimensions. They can also provide analytical information through x-ray analysis. Tools such as the confocal microscope and x-ray microtomography can provide 3-dimensional images of your sample.
We provide:
- Hands-on training sessions by highly skilled microscopists.
- Expert assistance and guidance with preparation techniques of biological and materials samples for optical, electron and x-ray microscopy.
- Network access to images and data produced at the centre.
Training sessions for microscopes and sample preparation can be arranged by contacting Adelaide Microscopy. Students are required to attend a New User Meeting with the relevant Adelaide Micrsoscopy staff members and their supervisor to establish the nature of the project and its requirements prior to any traning.
