Media TrainingUnderstanding of the MediaMarketing & Strategic Communications offers a half-day basic media skills workshop targeted mainly at postgraduate students and early career researchers who have had limited experience of the media but would like to promote their research through the media. Academic and professional staff involved with marketing or communications or with potential exposure to the media would also benefit. The workshop gives an overview of the media and how it operates, together with advice on dealing with journalists and handling interviews. There are hands-on activities including writing a media release and a ‘press conference’ role play. Sessions for up to 20 participants are delivered by our Media Officers several times throughout the year. The sessions normally start at 9am and finish with a guest-speaker. For people who may require more intensive media interview practise, sessions can be arranged on a user-pays basis. Further enquiriesJohn Edge |
