Minerals Tertiary Education Council Minerals Geoscience Honours Program

As a student enrolling in honours in 2013 at one of nine Australian Universities (Adelaide, ANU, Curtin, James Cook, Melbourne, Monash, Newcastle, UTas, UWA) you have the opportunity to participate in the Minerals Tertiary Education Council (MTEC) Minerals Geoscience Honours Program (MGH).

This program offers a choice of nine(9) short courses, located across the country, that are specifically designed to provide you with skills and knowledge relevant to future employment in the mining and exploration industry. You are encouraged to enrol in two of the following courses; however it is also possible to attend only one course if your supervisor is in agreement. You should choose whichever two courses will be most useful to you and travel bursaries are available to help with travel to the courses.

Enrolment in the courses is on a strict “first come first served” basis and no preference will be given to home students for a given course. We will be accepting registrations from the 9th of October 2012. You are able to register your MTEC course choices before you have been accepted on to your University’s Honours Program, you will simply be asked to contact Caroline Walker-Grime, the program administrator, as soon as you have confirmation whether or not you have been accepted on to the program. This will mean that your places on the courses you have requested can then be either confirmed or released to the next student on the waiting list. Please remember that there is limited space on all of the courses and that you should register as soon as possible to ensure you are able to attend your preferred courses. You will need to list THREE courses in order of preference when you apply.
