- Votapedia

Mobile phones can be used as an alternative to clickers or personal response systems in the classroom. They provide a convenient way to engage large groups of students in lectures. You can pose questions using a readily accessible web page and students can respond to options (eg multiple-choice questions) by ringing an individual number for each option. The results are displayed for the whole class to see. To use the external Votapedia system click the link to the web site below, create an account (top right of the login page) and email geoffrey.crisp@adelaide.edu.au with your logon name (not password). You will not be able to create surveys or quizzes until you have been made a known user in the system. This system is external to the University of Adelaide, but is free to use and students do not pay for the phone call from their mobile phones if they dial as they receive an engaged signal.

Due to feedback gathered throughout 2010 we are now recommending that staff use Turnitin instead of SafeAssign. It has become clear that SafeAssign text matching reports sometimes return inconsistent results. SafeAssign will remain available in MyUni for Semester 1, 2011 at which time a decision will be made as to future support.

This service helps teachers detect text that is copied from other sources and may not be referenced or acknowledged appropriately. Turnitin can be used by students to assist them in evidenced-based writing and proper attribution of content from other sources. Due to feedback gathered throughout 2010 we are now recommending that staff use Turnitin instead of SafeAssign.
