Online Situational Learning Project
The project was funded for 12 months for 2007 by the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences and a University of Adelaide Business and Resource Learning & Teaching Funding Grant. The aim was to progress developments in online situational learning.
Goals
- A community of practice of committed staff with a sound understanding of situational learning approaches - a cohesive group able to maintain and support interest, experimentation and research into situational learning within the University beyond 2007.
- The development and implementation of at least two new online situational learning role plays/simulations
- Enhancements to existing online role plays, including cross discipline usage and/or collaboration
- A minimum of one scenario based learning object per faculty embedded in online learning materials
- Data in relation to the learning journey for staff and students using situational learning that can inform the teaching and learning process
- A website on Situational Learning to showcase the approach and exemplars developed at the Univerity of Adelaide
Implementation
- Launch the project – March 29, 2007
- Run a series of workshops on Scenario Based Learning
Workshop 1: SBL, its value and place in your program
Workshop 2: Scripting a scenario
Workshop 3: Building and publishing your scenario
- Respond to requests from staff support the development of their SBL projects.
- Content loaded to the Situational Learning website
- SCOPE Community of Practice website set up on the CLPD Moodle
- Launch SCOPE - 25 July Wine and Cheese
- Link with National EnRoLE Project
- Run "50 Minutes" Lunch time sessions on SBL and online role play
