Collaborate Voice tool- Using Voice Authoring

The Voice Authoring tool allows instructors and students to record audio snippets and place them anywhere the rich text editor is used.
The rich text editor is used in almost all text areas within MyUni including Announcements, Wikis, Blogs and Discussion boards.
The Voice Authoring tool uses the mash up feature on the rich text editor.
The Voice Authoring tool is part of the Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring suite.

Preparation

Plug a 3.5mm analogue headset with both microphone and headphones into the correct ports on your computer.
Note - if your computer has a inbuilt microphone and speaker built in and the are functioning then you don't need a headset.

1. Navigate to a tool that uses the rich text editor. This example use the course announcement tool. Announcements > Create Announcement
Note - The rich text editor is used in almost all text areas with MyUni including Announcements, Wikis, Blogs and Discussion boards.

2. Provide subject title
3. confirm that the rich Text Editor is set to ON
4. Select mash up icon then choose Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring

Record audio

5.Provided a title.
6. Select the red record button then speak into your microphone to record the voice message
7. Select stop to finish the recording.
8.Select green play button to listen and confirm recording.
9. Select Submit.
Note - Voice Authoring recordings are limited to 20 minutes per recording

10. Configure remaining Announcement settings
11. Select Submit
