Collaborate Voice tools- Setting up a Voice Board

This guide outlines the steps to setup a voice board item within MyUni.
The voice board tool allows instructors and students to participate in a discussion forum within their MyUni course and compose posts using audio.
The voice board tool is part of the Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring suite.

Prepration

Plug a 3.5mm analogue headset with both microphone and headphones into the correct ports on your computer.
Note - if your computer has a inbuilt microphone and speaker built in and the are functioning then you don't need a headset.

If the setup wizard is unsuccessful then review the System Requirements for Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring: Here

1. Select a content area to set up your voice board within then select Tools > More Tools > Blackboard Collaborate Voice Board

2. Creat a link to the Voice Boards by adding a Name and Description. Make the link available and select Submit

3. Select link Created

4. Select Add Board

5. Provide a Title
[Optional] Add a description

6. Configure the discussion board settings.

7. Select the Max message length required.

8. Select Standard Quality -12.8kbit/s - Modem usage.
This is level of quality is suffice for most aural voice posts and is accommodating to most internet connection speeds.
If you require a higher/lower audio sample select a different quality.

9. Optionally make Gradeable and include possible points. This will add a column to Grade Centre for marking

10. Select Submit.

11. Select the Voice Board

12. Select New

Compose the first voice tread

13.Provided a subject.

14. Select the red record button then speak into your microphone to record the voice message

15. Select stop to finish the recording.

16.Select green play button to listen and confirm recording.
[Optional] Add written text

17. Select Post.

18. Select Back
