Discussion Board: Creating a Discussion Thread

Discussion Forums may contain numerous threads which are a series of posts. Threads are used to organise online dialogue and keep relevant messages together. By the time you finish this tutorial you should be able to
1. Access a forum
2. Create a new Thread

From the left hand Navigation Panel

1. Click on Communication
2. The click on Discussion Board

3. Click on Class Discussions:Issues in Oceanography Forum

Create a New Thread

4. Click on the Create Thread Button

1. Enter the subject for the thread
2. Add your beginning message for the thread in the text editor

You can scroll down if you want to attach a file from your local drive or file collection. We will add a file from the local drive

To attach a file from your local hard drive click on Browse My Computer and navigate to the file

8. Select a file of your choice
9. Click on Open

Check File Attached and Submit

10. Check that your selected file is attached
11. Change the name of the link if desired
12. Click Submit button

13. Click OK - now you and students will be able to access the thread and attachment in the forum and post messages
