The CASR seminar series will address major topics in the fight to reduce road trauma and highlight the latest research in the area. Title: Regulating Vehicle Design for Pedestrian Protection Vehicles can be designed to minimise the risk of death and level of injury to a struck pedestrian. Impact testing is used to measure the extent of pedestrian protection offered by a vehicle. Such impact tests are part of regulations in Europe and Japan, and a similar regulation may be adopted in Australia in the near future. This seminar provides an overview of the potential Australian regulation, and what its implementation would mean in terms of vehicle design changes, and reductions in pedestrian death and injury.
