spacer Youth Debate - Trojan War on Trial
Bookmark and Share Printer Friendly Version

Date/Time: Friday, 11 May 2012, 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm
Location: Moot Court, Adelaide Law School
Cost: Free

Helen of Troy was one of the world's most famous beautiful women. A 10-year war ravaged two cultures because of the obsessive pursuit of her beauty.

University of Adelaide Law School in partnership with Adelaide University Debating Society will put the Trojan War on Trial as part of a writer residency program with Elena Caripidis at the University of Adelaide Theatre Guild.

Armed with the principles of criminal law, international law, civil war and a healthy dose of creative licence, six University of Adelaide law students will go head to head in a legal showdown to bring to rest an ancient dispute.

Trojan War on Trial will be an engaging debate linking the subjects of legal studies and ancient history, suitable for adults as well as students of years 9-12.

This debate is being held in conjunction with Law Week 2012.
