Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky Trio For Piano, Violin and Violincello in A Minor Op.50

Personal loss has inspired music of great power and sadness. Both Tchaikovsky and Suk chose the piano trio to express their deepest emotions after the loss of close friends. Suk's yearning Elegy is beautiful in its simplicity whereas Tchaikovsky's grief produced a tragic edifice on a scale that is yet to be surpassed.
