Photographing the World: Timeless Images from Special Collections

Date/Time: Thursday, 25 July 2013 - Sunday, 22 September 2013, all day

Location: Rare Books & Special Collections, Level 1, Barr Smith Library

Cost: Free - All welcome

In conjunction with Ben McGee's photographic exhibition: "Brazil: Joining Fragments", the Library presents a selection of photographs from its own Rare Books and Special Collections.

Encompassing the work of eminent Australian and international photographers, this display explores the relationship between image-maker and subject, between traditional training and modern photographic printing, between personal visions of the ideal world and the gritty, sometimes harsh, reality of everyday life.

Regardless of their perspective, creative approach or technical ability, these photographers, whether knowingly or not, have made important contributions to modern photography, collectively challenging conventions of their time and paving the way for the next generation of talented image-makers.
