Sex, lies and flimsy knickers!

Louise is at the King's street parade. And then it happens: her underpants fall down. In that instant - that fleeting fluttering of delicate fabric - Louise's life changes. Her small-minded, repressive idiot husband Theo is outraged, and a succession of sweatily amorous men start beating a path to Louise's door, hoping for another glimpse. Suddenly, the mousy Louise is a star - famous, desired and the middle of a swirling cauldron of celebrity.

The beloved American comedian Steve Martin has adapted Carl Sternheim's 1911 comedy Die Hose and this is a silly, naughty and rollicking ride of slapstick and gags. But underneath the trademark Steve Martin hilarity are subtle touches of the examination of fame, fidelity and anti-semitism.

The Theatre Guild's production of The Underpants is the South Australian premiere of this sparkling comedy.

Director John Wells, who directed Tom Stoppard's The Real Inspector Hound in 2006, has got the gang back together for The Underpants.

The Real Inspector Hound wowed audiences and won a swag of awards. Wells assembled a tight cast of brilliant comedians for The Real Inspector Hound and has done so again for The Underpants which promises to be a wonderful night of silliness and mayhem.
