How can we more effectively help disadvantaged children in South Australia?
In a culture that values individual success in a competitive environment, some children are lucky and endowed with genetic strengths and supportive family environments. Others are unlucky with their roll of the genetic and family dice. Some are very unlucky and face challenges of a magnitude unknown to their peers. We should never forget that no child chooses their genes or their family environment. Should we tell these unlucky children that they are simply 'out of luck' or should we try and even life's playing field?
