With its nuclear program and the development of long range missiles, North Korea has long posed among the most serious challenges to security in the Asia-Pacific. In his first 100 days, U.S. President Donald Trump has abandoned the Obama's Administrations approach of "Strategic Patience" and has raised the level of rhetoric and tension in response to recent North Korean missile tests. Professor Gordon Flake, a long-time analyst of Korean affairs, will discuss the Trump Administration policy and the prospects for both conflict and progress on the Peninsula.

Presenter: Professor L. Gordon Flake, CEO, Perth USAsia Centre, The University of Western Australia

L. Gordon Flake is the founding CEO of the Perth USAsia Centre. He was previously Executive Director of the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation, a Senior Fellow and Associate Director of the Program on Conflict Resolution at The Atlantic Council of the United States and prior to that Director for Research and Academic Affairs at the Korea Economic Institute of America.
