Monday, 12 February 2007 Water resources engineers from India and Australia are holding a four-day workshop at the National Wine Centre, University of Adelaide, to discuss the latest research into water resources management. The workshop, being hosted by the University of Adelaide from Monday to Thursday 12-15 February, brings together senior engineers and scientists from six technological institutes in India with experts from four Australian universities. "India and Australia have separate issues when it comes to water and water resources management, but the expertise needed to overcome those issues is something that we can all potentially benefit from," says the co-ordinator of the workshop, Professor Graeme Dandy from the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Adelaide. "This workshop is aimed at hearing the latest research being conducted in India and Australia, exploring areas of common research interest, and establishing collaboration between researchers in both countries that will provide mutual benefits for all," he says. "There is no doubt that water resources management is a very real issue for many countries around the world, with high environmental, economic and social consequences for getting it wrong. By working together, Australia and India stand to make important gains." Among the topics to be discussed are:
