Thursday, 22 February 2007 Major Michael Mori, the US Defence Counsel for Guantanamo Bay prisoner David Hicks, will join other speakers at the University of Adelaide on Saturday 24 February at a public forum 'David Hicks - Where to now?' Other speakers include South Australian Labor Senator Linda Kirk, former Abu Ghraib detainee Ahmed Azis Rafiq and Mr Chris Keating, Adelaide Catholic Justice and Peace Commission executive officer. Major Mori has spent more than seven years as a military trial lawyer, including a stint as Senior Defence Counsel for the US Naval Legal Service Office Pacific and Head Prosecutor for the Marines in Hawaii. He volunteered to represent Guantanamo Bay detainees and was appointed US military defence lawyer for David Hicks in November 2003. The Forum is hosted by the University of Adelaide's School of History and Politics and the SA Branch of the Australian Institute of International Affairs and will be held at 2pm, Saturday 24 February in Lecture Room 102, Napier Building, at the University's North Terrace Campus.
