Interest in the global financial crisis (GFC) is so great that a free public forum on the issue being held tonight at the University of Adelaide is fully booked.

"Anatomy of a meltdown - The GFC Forum: Cause, effect and recovery" is the next in the University's regular series of Research Tuesdays.

The GFC Forum will hear from four University of Adelaide experts - in finance, banking, economics and international trade - who will break down the GFC, clear the fog and assess the way forward.

Much has been said and done about the GFC already, but how accurate or effective has this been? Are fingers being fairly pointed? Can the cracks be repaired, or do we need a whole new system?

The speakers are:

Professor Christopher Findlay
Professor and Head of the School of Economics, University of Adelaide. He has consulted to the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, AusAID and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).

Professor Ralf Zurbrugg
Professor of Finance with the University of Adelaide Business School. He is a joint-editor of The International Journal of Managerial Finance and has consulted to numerous fund management and hedge fund companies around the world.

Mr Andrew Stoler
Adjunct Professor of International Trade and Executive Director of the University of Adelaide's Institute for International Trade. A former Deputy Directory-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and a past Deputy Assistant US Trade Representative for Europe and the Mediterranean.

Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu
Professor of Finance and Banking with the University of Adelaide Business School. He is a fellow of the Homer Hoyt Advanced Studies Institute in the US and an affiliated researcher of the Financial Mathematics group of the Institute of Applied Mathematics at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey.

Please note: the public forum has already received 270 registrations and is full. All Research Tuesdays are now recorded, with audio and video made available online for those who are unable to attend.
