Uni welcomes State's $200m for health research

The University of Adelaide has welcomed the announcement from the Federal Budget of $200 million for the State's planned new health and medical research institute.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Paul Duldig said: "This is a massive injection of funds for health and medical research in South Australia - we've seen nothing of this magnitude before."

"This new funding will enable substantial growth in world-class medical research activity in the State, with resultant benefits for the health of our community. We look forward to working with the State Government and other participants on the establishment of the new institute."

The University of Adelaide is one of the most research-intensive universities in Australia with a strong national and international reputation in health and medical research.
