Wednesday, 19 January 2005 The University of Adelaide's Year 12 Revision Program experienced a boom in student participation this summer with more than 300 enrolments. Presented by the University's Centre for Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) as a community function and held during the summer vacation, the program aims to bring out the best in students in their final two years of secondary school. "Courses are offered over two-week periods across the sciences and mathematics, as well as in those all-important survival and study skill workshops, giving them `the edge' when every little bit matters," says Ms Liz Pryzibilla, Director, Centre for Professional & Continuing Education & the English Language Centre, the University of Adelaide. "Senior students come to the Revision Program from public and private, city and country schools across South Australia, and range from those already achieving top scores to those needing an extra hand in specific subjects for this vital year of their lives." "Sessions are run by dedicated teachers familiar with the SACE curricula and often also with SABSSA marking experience under their belts," says Ms Przyibilla. "All are selected for both their subject expertise as well as their understanding and insight into what students and their familes go through in their senior years." Often PCE's teachers build up individual rapport that continues throughout the year with students returning to each program. Feedback from students has included comments such as: -- Highly informative material compounded by outstanding teaching! PCE also integrates campus tours into its Year 12 programs, run in partnership with the University's Prospective Student Office.
