Wednesday, 14 October 2009 The implications for property investors of the State Government's 30-year plan for Greater Adelaide will be outlined at a University of Adelaide financial markets symposium tomorrow. Minister for Urban Development and Planning the Hon. Paul Holloway MLC will brief the symposium on the development opportunities for investors in the next three decades. Over the next 30 years South Australia's population is expected to exceed two million people, with more varied and higher density housing developments planned around transport corridors. Minister Holloway is the keynote speaker for "The Future for Property Investment and Financing" symposium being hosted by the University of Adelaide's International Centre for Financial Services (ICFS). It will be held at the National Wine Centre from 9am to 12.15pm. Other speakers will include Professor Stephen Le Roy, an economist and Emeritus Professor at the University of California, who will give an overview of the sub-prime crises in the United States. Professor Le Roy, who is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Adelaide's Business School, will discuss the lessons that Australia and the world can learn from the US experience. An expert panel of bankers, developers, professional property investors and academics will also give their perspective on investment opportunities and financing. ICFS was established at the University of Adelaide in 2005 to promote both education and research in the rapidly growing areas of financial services and wealth management.
