Tuesday, 16 March 2010 A business forum examining the impact of the world's two biggest financial crises on Singapore in the past decade will be hosted by the University of Adelaide this Thursday 18 March at the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Auditorium in Singapore. The University's Singapore education partner will facilitate the annual business forum at its Tank Road premises, featuring a panel of well known Singapore finance and banking experts as well as keynote speaker Professor Dogan Tirtiroglu. Professor Tirtiroglu is the University of Adelaide's Professor of Finance and Chair of Banking, whose academic background has included posts in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as Australia. The Connecticut-educated professor will discuss how the attacks on New York's Twin Towers in September 2001 and the more recent global financial crisis have left their mark on Singapore's economy. His presentation will examine the fluctuation of interest rates in Singapore between 1999 and 2009, in particular the volatility in the local banking sector during these crises periods. Australia's Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner to Singapore Ms Kirsten Sayers will deliver the opening address to around 200 delegates. The other panellists joining the debate include the following:
The panel will be moderated by the Head of the University of Adelaide's Business School, Associate Professor Barry Burgan. WHAT: A Tale of Two Financial Crises Business Forum |
