Technology management and transfer under the spotlight

Tuesday, 17 June 2003

A renowned German technology marketing and commercialisation expert will be the coordinator and keynote speaker of a University of Adelaide technology course beginning later this month.

Professor Thomas Baaken has worked with companies such as Microsoft, Siemens, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz, and is now employed by the German Government to head a German-Australian Cooperative Research Project.

He is also a visiting scholar at the University of Adelaide's Education Centre for Innovation and Commercialisation (ECIC), which is hosting the Technology Management and Transfer course from Thursday, June 26 to Wednesday, July 23 at the National Wine Centre.

The ECIC has assembled an international team of distinguished academics, educators and skilled professionals from Australia and Europe for the course, which is intended to help participants increase their likelihood of successfully and profitably transferring technology into the marketplace.

ECIC Business Development Manager Mr Shane Cheek said the international flavour of the course and its presenters will ensure participants are up to speed on the latest global developments in the field of technology transfer.

"We are delighted to have someone of Professor Baaken's calibre not only associate with the ECIC, but to become actively involved and help put on such an important course," he said. "It also shows that the ECIC is highly regarded not only in Australia, but also throughout the world."
