Indonesian students can now help themselves - and their home country - through a new scholarship scheme available at Australian universities, including the University of Adelaide.

The Australian Partnership Scholarships are an initiative from the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Reconstruction and Development, and are funded by the Australian Government for postgraduate study in Australia.

Scholarship students will be able to obtain postgraduate qualifications from the University of Adelaide in a wide range of areas, including Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, International Studies, Law, Engineering, Education and Statistics.

University of Adelaide Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost Professor Penny Boumelha says the scholarships enable Indonesian students to obtain a high-quality postgraduate education which they can then use for the benefit of their home country.

"We are keen to assist Indonesia's reconstruction and development efforts, and the APS gives Indonesians an opportunity to further their learning and skills in order to help this process," she says.

"The University of Adelaide has more than 2500 international students, many of whom are from our neighbouring South-East Asian countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. The city of Adelaide is safe, attractive and easy to get around - and is also one of Australia's least expensive cities."
