Search for new Uni of Adelaide Chancellor underway

Monday, 28 July 2014

The University of Adelaide is undertaking a national search for a new Chancellor to succeed the Honourable Robert Hill AC whose term as 15th Chancellor of the University concluded last Friday.

Deputy Chancellor, Ms Dianne Davidson, a University of Adelaide graduate herself and leading agricultural scientist, will lead the University's Council until a new appointment is made.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Warren Bebbington, paid tribute to Mr Hill's service and leadership over the past four years: "He was a champion of the new Strategic Plan: Beacon of Enlightenment, which he recognised at the outset for its emphasis on quality," he said.

"He shared his deep knowledge of higher education with Council and the executive and advocated constantly for the University of Adelaide and all that we stand for."

Ms Davidson said that it may take some time to identify the right person to fill the pivotal role of 16th Chancellor of the University of Adelaide.

"The University faces a challenging and changing higher education landscape. But it has a strong executive team and a Council committed to seeing the University thrive in the long term," she said.
