Ms Sophie Karanicolas, Senior Lecturer in the School of Dentistry, will lead a $225,000 Innovation and Development project 'Translating concept into practice: enabling first-year health sciences teachers to blueprint effective flipped learning approaches'.

Flipped learning is a pedagogical approach to improving student engagement and outcomes.

In collaboration with the Australian Catholic University and the University of Tasmania, Ms Karanicolas will develop a 'Flipkit' to help first-year health sciences teachers turn the 'flipped learning' concept into quality teaching practice.

The project team will also evaluate the learning outcomes of flipped classrooms in health sciences produce across a broad range of courses.

Dr Matthew Dry, Lecturer in the School of Pyschology, has received a $22,000 Seed Grant for the project 'Assessing the utility of an online adaptive learning tool in a large undergraduate program'.

In recent years there has been growing interest in the use of e-learning tools that are adaptable to the ability levels, needs, or preferences of individual learners.

This project will test an online adaptive e-learning tool within an undergraduate Psychology course to assess academic outcomes.
