Friday, 11 June 2004 The University of Adelaide's UniBar has been voted the Best Live Venue in South Australia. The honour was bestowed on the UniBar, run by the Adelaide University Union, at the national Jack Awards in Sydney this week. Sponsored by Jack Daniel's, the awards recognise and reward live music talent and venues, with music fans from around Australia casting their votes online. The inaugural awards night involved key members of the Australian music and entertainment industries. Powderfinger took the honours as best live music band, and the University of Adelaide's very own UniBar won the award for Best Live Venue in SA. UniBar was nominated against a strong field of contenders, including Heaven, the Governor Hindmarsh and Thebarton Theatre. UniBar Manager Paul Jennings proudly accepted the award in Sydney on behalf of the UniBar and the Adelaide University Union. The Jack Awards will be broadcast on Channel [V] at 8:30pm EST, Sunday, June 20. |
