Thursday, 12 January 2006 The University of Adelaide has performed well in a prestigious scholarship scheme which sees students travel to Asia to broaden their academic and cultural horizons. Adelaide postgraduate students won five out of the 13 available Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards for 2006. The University of Adelaide will also host an Asian student, Hooi Sian Eng from Malaysia, who will be based with the University's Faculty of Health Sciences at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Acting Vice-Chancellor Ms Susan MacIntosh says the scheme gives undergraduate and postgraduate students from Australia and Asia the opportunity to study in each other's home environments. "We are delighted for the successful students, and hope that their time in Asia has a big impact on them, both professionally and personally," she says. "We also congratulate Cheung Kong and the Federal Government on working together for something that shows that cultural exchanges between Australia and Asia work in both directions." |
