Mid-year Graduations at University of Adelaide |

New graduates, friends, family and distinguished guests will gather in Bonython Hall [1] at the University of Adelaide this week for the annual mid-year Graduation Ceremonies [2]. More than 1650 students will graduate, with five ceremonies held from Monday 4 August to Wednesday 6 August. Distinguished speakers addressing the new graduates are the Hon Paul Caica [3], Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, SA Health Chief Executive Dr Tony Sherbon [4], joint Chief Executive Officer of Common Ground [5] Ms Sue Crafter, Australian Science Media Centre [6] CEO Dr Susannah Eliott and Mr Alan Noble [7], Engineering Director of Google Australia and New Zealand. Among the graduates will be 19 winners of University Medals for most outstanding academic achievement in 2007 including a rare triple medallist, Brendan Lim [8], who completed and topped two honours degrees in Law and Music (Jazz Performance) last year, after already graduating with a Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences. He also wins the Honours Alumni University Medal for the most outstanding honours students in his year. Vice-Chancellor and President Professor James McWha said: "Graduation is a highlight of the University of Adelaide's calendar, a time when the whole University community celebrates the tremendous achievements of our students. "Many of these graduates will go on to make a significant impact within the community, some of them leaders in their fields. We wish them all well in their future careers and look forward to hearing of their ongoing achievement."
