China economic experts at business forum |

A leading Chinese political economist will join other China experts in a free public forum in Adelaide this Thursday on recent developments in the Chinese economy and what it means for Australian business. Key speaker Professor Cui Zhiyuan is Professor in the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University [1] in Beijing and was the 2008 Anthony W and Lulu C Wang Distinguished Visiting Professor at Cornell University Law School [2] in the US. Presented by the Confucius Institute [3] at the University of Adelaide and the South Australian Centre for Economic Studies [4] on Thursday 27 August, this `China Briefing' will examine issues surrounding the questions: Is the Chinese stimulus package working? and What does it mean to Australia? China had registered more than 10% economic growth for more than two decades until the Global Financial Crisis saw its GDP cut in half. With a $586 billion stimulus packaged introduced in November 2008, China has maintained economic growth of 7.5% in 2009. The forum will discuss why this is of vital importance to Australian business.
