Project Industry Placements

The Project Industry Placements program places undergraduate students with a company under a collaborative agreement to carry out a project activity whilst studying in their final year. Projects typically require 300 - 600 hours of activity depending on the discipline.

The agreement covers a period of up to 9 months and links industry with the University through the activities of the student.

The program has a dual mission, to enhance student skills through relevant real-world projects in research and development and to profit industry by a partnership in training, expertise transfer, innovation and development.

The student is supported by an academic supervisor and has access to university resources where needed.

Projects can be arranged in the following areas:

Marketing Surveys/Plans
Strategic and Business Planning
Industrial Design

The project must be sufficiently challenging, fit into the time frame and be a genuine company requirement to ensure a useful outcome for all the participants. The cost to a company for the services of the student is $10,000 GST inclusive.

The company will retain commercial rights for the results of the project unless other agreements are specifically made. Confidentiality agreements will be signed when appropriate.
