Aims

The Overseas Students' Association has two primary aims, namely the representation of international students at the University of Adelaide on a wide range of issues, and the organisation of social activities for its members.

These two aims translate into a number of specific, more focussed aims, namely to:
- represent International Students who enrol at the University of Adelaide.
- maintain and improve the collective and individual welfare of International Students.
- promote and furthur the interests of the members of the OSA.
- promote, and defend the rights of International Students regardless of education, race, colour, gender, sexuality, physical disabilities, economic backgrounds, politics, religious or ideological convictions, nationality or social origins.
- communicate, liaise and co-operate with the University's various departments, student organisations and community bodies, within or outside the University, thus furthuring the interests of International Students and ensuring effective lobbying and understanding.
- promote understanding and friendship between International Students and the local community.
- ensure that the existence of the OSA is made relevant and known to all International Students.
- provide financial and organisational support for activities and programs, relevant or incidental towards the achievement of the OSA's objectives.
- maintain and improve the organisation's structure, facilities and working environment within the Association.
- promote and maintain the relevance, purpose and direction of the OSA by making education, welfare and research the strong building blocks of the Association.

The OSA hopes that it is successful in achieving these aims. However, without the participation of a broad section of its members, anything the OSA attempts to achieve becomes more difficult. In other words, the more international students who are active in the OSA, the more the OSA can achieve!
