2004 Social Gathering
The OSA held a Social Gathering on April the 1st (and contrary to popular opinion this was not an April Fool's Day joke- although we thought about it!). The numbers were limited to 200 people because of the room capacity, and the response was excellent. This illustrates that international students want the chance to mix and meet new people. Free sushi, pastries, chips, baguettes and soft drinks were provided. The students that came were also able to participate in a questionairre that required them to ask other students how to say phrases such as "I love you" and "How are you?" in 5 different languages. The questionairres were then raffled and the winners took home Uni Books vouchers. The Gathering was very enjoyable for all - hopefully a few friendships were formed and, most importantly, people should know know how to say "Kiss me" in other languages. The Activities Committee worked hard to make it a success.
