Welcome to the Parents Guide
Parents Night
Many parents are understandably curious about the process of applying to and going to uni and the best ways to support their child in this transition. To help, in May we ran a "Parents Night" where parents were able to meet with university staff and learn more about the support services available, key dates, application procedures, costs etc. If you'd like to view the podcasts of this event they will be avilable on this page shortly. Please visit again soon.
Parents can play an important role in helping their children to make sound career and study choices. As a parent or guardian, you can play an important role in helping with your child’s study and career choices. Going to university is a big decision, considering that degrees take anywhere between three and six years to complete, with some professions also requiring postgraduate study.
It can take some time to figure out the right career pathway, but consider the following ways that you can help your son or daughter.
- Recognise their academic strengths and interests.
- Encourage them to identify their goals – students with a sense of direction are more likely to be motivated to study.
- Help them to research a wide range of career choices and study opportunities.
- Be flexible and encourage them to think about the range of opportunities available.
There are also other factors to consider, depending on your family’s circumstances. Explore this web site to find out more information and learn how we can help you.
