For applicants wishing to gain entry into Development Studies, Environmental Policy & Management, International Studies, Media, or Social Sciences, the Bachelor of Arts program is considered to be a valid pathway into any of these. With the exception of the Bachelor of Media, students wishing to gain entry into these specialised degrees may take the core courses required for those programs, as part of the B.Arts first year.
Our suggested action plan would be to firstly put your 'dream' degree program as your first preference. Then add the B.Arts program as your next preference. If you become a student in the B.Arts, then enrol in individual courses that can count towards your 'dream' program. Finally, apply through the university for an internal transfer. Selection will be based on your University Grade Point Average after completing one full-time semester, or you can use your ATAR for up to two years.
For applicants who wish to gain entry into Music bachelor degree programs but are not offered a place, they may wish to apply for a VET music program. There is the possibility of gaining entry into a bachelor degree on completion of these programs. For further information about this pathway, please view the Elder Conservatorium of Music webpages.
If you have successfully completed an AQF Certificate IV or higher, you may be eligible for both entry and credit into defined bachelor degrees.
A TAFE/VET pathway can provide a helpful stepping stone into university study, facilitating a smooth transition into higher education.
The University of Adelaide, in partnership with TAFE SA, has more than 250 credit pathways available. All degrees, except for the Bachelor of Arts (Advanced), offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offer credit pathways. For example, a graduate holding an Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design will be guaranteed 18 months credit into a Bachelor of Media, considerably reducing the remaining study load required to complete the degree.
Please check out our non-school leavers information for TAFE/VET applicants.
