Our Teaching MethodologyPCE programs provide participants with an interactive, ‘hands-on’ and stimulating learning experience. There will be opportunities for participants to advance opinions and ideas and participation is encouraged in a supportive learning environment. To ensure the concepts introduced are understood, they will be reinforced through a mix of learning methods which could include: lecture (or seminar) style presentation, open discussion, case studies, role plays, coaching, individual and group work. Where possible our programs include opportunities to debrief and consolidate ideas and skills through feedback, reflection, and the application of the ideas and skills to real work situations. PCE has extensive experience in delivering programs to people from diverse backgrounds. PCE works to ensure that our education programs are inclusive and, in the development and delivery of courses, we are mindful and respectful of participants that may have specific needs relating to culture, disability and/ or other requirements. PCE will work closely with your organisation to ensure any specific participant or organisational needs are met in this regard. Our Materials & CertificatesWe provide quality training materials tailored to your requirements. Typically, your participants will receive a workbook, supporting materials and exercises, as well as references to other suggested reading. Case studies, CDs, DVD’s, quick reference cards and other materials can be incorporated into your program. At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive a University of Adelaide, Professional and Continuing Education (PCE) Certificate of Completion. If the program includes assessment components, participants will receive a Certificate of Competency. This would include a list of topics and skills assessed and course duration. This documentation may assist in gaining ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ (RPL) or ‘Course Credit’ in applicable Award courses. Our ApproachOur tailored programs are designed to be as flexible and client focussed as possible, we work with you in partnership to develop and deliver a program to meet your needs.
Our Quality AssuranceWe are committed to quality outcomes for our clients. All our programs are evaluated using the University of Adelaide ‘Student Experience of Learning and Teaching’ (SELT) questionnaire. The University produces a comprehensive, consolidate evaluation report from the collated data, which will be provided to you and discussed where appropriate. Other evaluation tools can be used or developed to meet you organisation’s specific needs and PCE can administer and manage an alternative evaluation if required. Our Additional ServicesVenue and CateringIf desired, training can be held in our corporate training facilities at PCE - Level 9, 115 Grenfell Street, Adelaide. Our venue and catering services include:
Alternative menus can be arranged on request. The fee depends on your specific requirements and participant numbers and will be quoted in your program proposal. Enhanced Learning ToolsPCE can develop blended learning activities to improve the learning outcomes of your tailored training program and enhance incorporation of the learning into your workplace. Pre-course activity could include reading and exercises (individual or group) that prepare participants with background on a topic or provide specific information regarding a particular discussion or activity. It could also include a needs analysis online survey to determine the focus of the course. Pre-course activities can allow participants to ‘hit the ground running’ and make the most of their time in the training. Post-course activity could include reading, exercises (individual or group), one-on-one coaching or follow-up and the use of workplace ‘Action Plans’. These activities will extend and embed the learning into the workplace and could also be aligned to your organisation’s performance management framework. We can utilise a wide range of tools in a blended learning approach, including: webinars, email, blogs, online surveys, Web 2.0 technologies (i.e. Facebook, Twitter etc) as well as telephone and tele-conference calls and video over-IP conferencing. Such blended leaning tools can also be used to deliver cost effective tailored training to staff that are situated in regional Australia- where travel and distance may be an issue. AssessmentIf desired, PCE can incorporate an assessment component into your tailored training program. This competency-based assessment would be designed to assess the participant’s ability to perform a skill and/or demonstrate knowledge in the topic area of your program. The assessment tools could include; oral presentation, written assessment, role plays, individual or group assignments, video taping and/or online testing. While the majority of our courses do not provide a formal qualification, we can work with you to incorporate content and competency-based assessments that form part of the Australian Quality Framework for the Recognition of Prior Learning and other competency standards.
