Government Stimulus PackageIf you are a PhD or Masters Research student, you may be eligible for the $950 Training and Learning Bonus. Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced on April 24 that you will probably be eligible if: - You are a full-time postgraduate research student;
- You currently hold a research scholarship (eg APA);
- You are a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
- You are currently in Australia; and
- You apply for the Bonus through Centrelink.
The Government's decision follows lobbying by the Council of Australian Postgraduate Assocations (CAPA), with which the AUPGSA is affiliated. CAPA has recently completed a survey on public transport for postgraduate and international students (concessions vary widely between States). You are invited to sign a petition on public transport for tertiary students.
