- Writing up a thesis? Prefer to do it at home? No problem - but you may need to fill out the Graduate Centre's Writing Up Outside form. It's in the handy Index of forms and policies for PhD and Masters Research students.
- New books! The Library publishes a weekly list of its newly-acquired books.
If you're on the North Terrace campus, you can browse the Barr Smith
Library's New Books Shelf on Level 3 (entry level). Each new book
is displayed for approximately one week before it becomes available for
borrowing. You can also place an online request or "hold" on any book (whether new or not).
- You can convert a document to PDF format using PDF Relay, a free on-line service provided by Information Technology Servies (ITS).
- Ethics: The University has an advisory policy on Responsible Practice in Research.
It's a wide-ranging policy, not limited to standard issues such
as human/animal experiments and intellectual property.
Example: I'm a PhD student, and I'm writing a
research paper with my supervisors. Who should be listed as the
first author - and does it really matter? Oh, and I couldn't have
done it without my department's brilliant lab technician;
should I list make him/her as a co-author?
