Manual Handling Policy (Unrevised)
Overview:
The University of Adelaide has many tasks that require manual handling of furniture, equipment, tools and animals etc, which, if not properly managed, have the potential to cause serious injury to both staff and students. Injuries sustained through manual handling tasks are one of the major areas of concern in terms of the overall proportion of accidents, human suffering and financial cost. This policy and guidelines outlines a strategy to address these concerns through the system of identification, assessment and control, supported by appropriate training and education for members of the University Community.
