Collection Management Policy and Procedures (Unrevised)

Overview:

The University of Adelaide has eighteen identified art, heritage and teaching collections, totalling approximately 500,000 objects (see Appendix 1). These collections enhance the University's environment, support and enrich teaching and research programs, and provide a resource to students, staff and the broader community.

The collections were broadly assessed in 1995 as part of the nationwide 'Cinderella' university museum project, which included identification of their significant objects at a state, national and international level. The Collection Management Policy and its associated Procedures are intended to articulate the University's custodial position and provide instruction for the care and management of every aspect of these diverse collections.
