Firearms Policy (Unrevised)

Overview:

The Australian community has a legitimate concern to prevent proliferation of firearms and their inappropriate use. The Government has enacted strict gun control laws that seeks to ensure public safety and security. Legislation covering the possession, ownership and use of firearms is enacted in the Firearms Act 1977. Section 5 of the Act contains the Interpretation of the Act and describes the various types of firearm covered, as well as licensing, administration and other information relative to the possession, ownership and use of firearms.
