Casual Employment Policy and Guidelines (Unrevised)

Overview:

The University utilises casual employment where work is to be performed on an ad hoc basis over an undefined and normally short period (not usually longer than 6 months). Casual staff members are paid by the hour, receive a loading and can be engaged on a full-time or part-time basis. The Policy sets down the principles for the engagement of casual academic and professional staff. The Guidelines are provided to inform and update supervisors and casual staff members of the current processes for casual employment. They also set out the conversion process for casual professional staff members. The Policy and Guidelines should be read in conjunction with the relevant clauses in the University of Adelaide Collective Agreement (CA) and/or Australian Workplace Agreement (AWA).
