Before Classes Start

There are a few things you should be familiar with before you begin your studies within the Faculty of the Professions.

Follow the steps below to work through what you need to know to succeed!

Step 1: Activate Your Account

As a new student you can find your student ID number, also known as your username, in your welcome email. You will need this student ID number to activate your account and setup your password.

To activate your account and start accessing the online services:

  • Open Password Manager
  • Select the 'Activate Account' option
  • Follow the steps to activate your account and set your password

Step 2: Activate Your Email

Your student email account is the primary method that the University will use to contact you during your study. It is important to check your student email regularly for communications from the University.

To activate your email account:

  • Log in to Unified
  • Click the 'Activate' button in the email portal

Step 3: Get Advice

Now that you've set up your online services, it's time to think about what courses you're going to study. First step to this? Get some advice from the Professions Hub Team;

Step 4: Download the App

The UA Student App keeps you informed on or off campus. Check your timetable, view Academic Results for your courses, keep track of Academic Dates; Get safety tips for on and around campus; Follow links to useful information; Keep up to date with events and news around the University and follow University social media.

You can now download the UA Student Smart Phone App.

Step 5: Select your Subjects and Enrol!

Both new and continuing students are responsible for their own enrolment. The Enrolment Guide will guide you through the process.

Your study plan is a design of what classes you should take, what electives you have, and how you might structure your study to take these classes. It is the first step to knowing what you should enrol in. to enrol.

Remember, if you do have any questions about what to enrol in or if you have any issues please contact the Professions Hub.

Step 6: Collect your Student ID Card

Once you have enrolled, visit Ask Adelaide to get your first student ID Card. Ask Adelaide is located at Hub Central on the North Terrace Campus. Check Ask Adelaide's opening hours before going in.

You will need to bring current photo ID with you in order to be issued with your student card. If you are not from the local Adelaide area (International, Interstate or Rural student) you will need to update your details in Access Adelaide to include a local Adelaide mailing address before coming to get your card.

Ask Adelaide will take your new ID card photo with you when you come in to the Hub for your card.

Step 7: Purchase Your Textbooks

Use Co-op to find out which textbooks are required for your courses.

Course Readers can be purchased from the Image and Copy Centre. You need to print off a voucher on MyUni to collect your course reader.
