General Conditions of Participation in Business and Economics School Financial Incentive Scheme

  1. Financial support (or travel grant) may be provided for any approved exchange study with Business or Economics partners (including summer and winter programs, and unhosted study tours).
  2. Students must have met the Adelaide Abroad eligibility criteria for exchange, and abide by the Adelaide Abroad program terms and conditions.
  3. Students must have a satisfactory level of academic achievement with at least a credit average ie > 65%.
  4. Credit transfer arrangements must be approved prior to the travel grant being approved.  Applicants are responsible for confirming credit transfer arrangements with the Mobility Officer before the commencement of a program.
  5. All participants must take out approved travel and health insurance for the duration of the program. Information on approved insurance policies is available from the Adelaide Abroad office.
  6. The Undergraduate Hub is not responsible for advising students on visas for other countries, or on Australian student visa conditions (for full-degree international students). Students should consult with the relevant embassy or Department of Immigration and Citizenship for current information.
  7. Applicants must be enrolled in a Business School or School of Economics award program at the time of application and also at the time of travel.
  8. Awardees must complete a trip report and submit it to the Undergraduate Hub at the completion of their exchange.
  9. Funding may vary from year to year. Financial incentive (travel grant) amounts are allocated according to the Incentive Scheme Guidelines for the relevant year.
  10. The University of Adelaide has strict guidelines regarding credit for previous studies and cross-institutional studies. While travel grants are intended to support related activities, the award of a travel grant does not in itself give approval for credit transfer.
  11. The recipient is required to repay the travel grant to the Faculty of the Professions if the proposed travel is cancelled or not completed. Students will be required to repay the travel grant if a satisfactory academic result is not achieved. This repayment will be regarded as a debt to the University and a sanction will be placed on the recipient.
  12. All travel grants are issued in Australian Dollars.
  13. A Business and Economics Partner Institution is an institution that has a current signed exchange agreement with The University of Adelaide and has been identified by the Faculty of the Professions for the purposes of achieving the Faculty of the Professions student mobility strategy.
  14. All travel grant applications must be submitted prior to the departure date of the activity. Grants are not given retrospectively.
  15. Travel Grants are not awarded for activities that take place in regions that are currently listed as advised ‘NOT TO TRAVEL’ by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
  16. Applications must be complete before they will be reviewed. Applicants will be notified regarding an incomplete application and will be required to provide additional documentation. Incomplete applications will be forwarded for review in the next round of Travel Grants given that the additional required documentation has been received by that submission deadline.
  17. Business School and School of Economics students are eligible for a maximum of one travel grant.
  18. Final approval for funding is at the discretion of the Executive Dean of the Professions, in consultation with the Faculty Executive Committee.
  19. This policy is effective from September 16, 2011.

Undergraduate conditions of participation

  1. Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least 24 units at the University of Adelaide towards their current program of study or will have successfully completed 24 units by the time they participate in the exchange program.
  2. Students who have received unit credit from recognised prior learning or from articulation programs will not be eligible for Business or Economics travel grants.

  1. Students must be able to receive credit for their program.
  2. Students who withdraw from any program after the final withdrawal date will not be eligible for a refund of payments made and will also incur any other costs related to their individual program withdrawal.
