2012 Study Tour to Singapore

Business and Economics students - Complete one course in 8 days over the winter break in Singapore!

The tour will be hosted by Dr Fiona Kerr and will count towards your Undergraduate degree as a Level III Commerce Elective.

Limited places are available and a competitive entry process will apply.

Dates

A compulsory pre-departure cultural and academic seminar is scheduled for Thursday, 14 June.

Departure from Adelaide: Tuesday, 3 July, 2012.
Departure from Singapore: Thursday, 12 July, 2012.

Study Tour: Wednesday, 4 July – Wednesday, 11 July 2012

Students must travel to and from Singapore as a group.

Cost

AUD2500 per student.

This covers:

  • Economy airfares (Adelaide – Singapore – Adelaide), including airport taxes
  • Program related site visits, cultural activities and some lunches
  • Program related chartered bus travel
  • Twin/triple share accommodation at International House
  • University travel insurance for the duration of the study tour.

You will need to cover additional expenses, such as food and beverages, local transport, clothing and extra-curricular activities including weekends. Please note that Adelaide University tuition costs still apply.

OS HELP may be available for eligible students.

Eligibility *

  • A compulsory pre-departure cultural and academic seminar is scheduled for Thursday 14 June. This is a compulsory component of the course. If you will not be able to attend this seminar in Adelaide, you should not apply for this tour.
  • Have successfully completed one year of full time study at the University of Adelaide
  • Have successfully completed first year core courses
  • Have a credit average or higher
  • Have room in your program for this course (it is your responsibility to confirm this with the UG Hub)

Proposed Content *

This course is designed to enhance student's appreciation for business methods and models that operate in the East Asian sub-continent through immersion in an Asian country and face-to-face teaching with business leaders in various fields in these countries.

The course will cover all aspects of the business environment in East Asia ranging from its economy, business culture and ethics, leadership principles, international business patterns and general entrepreneurship.

This will be presented to students through seminar classes with specialists in each area and reinforced with site visits. This particular semester offering will be conducted at the University of Adelaide Ngee Ann Campus.
