What is an internship?

Short term work placement where you spend time working in an organisation 2 days per week for a minimum of 10 weeks over a semester.

There are also some intensive internships available over the summer and mid-semester break, where you would work 4 or 5 days per week over 3 or 4 weeks.

The internship will be directly related to your Discipline and the nature of work will range from clerical work, shadowing and observation of supervisors, client work and independent work on a project of benefit to the organisation.

Am I eligible?

You must be enrolled and currently studying as a Business or Economic student at the University of Adelaide for the duration of the intended internship.

Students who have graduated or have had their Degree conferred, or who will graduate during the term of the Internship, cannot be considered.

You must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the Internship Program:

• Have a credit average in your current degree program.
• Have excellent business level written and verbal English skills.
• Have completed 1.5 years of your current program.
• Have had some form of voluntary or work experience.
• Be able to commit a minimum of 2 days per week for the 10 week duration of the program (4 weeks full-time equivalent).
• Postgraduate Students must have completed one semester minimum to apply, and if successful will be placed during the last semester of their Program.

Additional Information:

• These Internships are unpaid.
• If you are an International Student, at this stage, the Internship Program will be included in your 20 hours of working time per week. This means you must ensure that by participating in the Internship Program you are not breaching your visa requirements.
• If you are undertaking a masters program (except for the MBA Program) through the Business School and you are an International Student, you must have completed and passed the following elective: COMMERCE 7041: Business Communications (M).
