Welcome to the Professions Learning Centre. We provide learning and academic advice to postgraduate coursework students within the Faculty of the Professions across all Schools:

Our services include:

 Individual and group consultations with students about topics such as:

  • Understanding assignment questions
  • How to structure assignments
  • Written language structures
  • Paraphrasing and referencing
  • Critical thinking strategies
  • Listening and note taking skills
  • Effective reading and interpretation strategies
  • Oral presentation and discussion skills
  • Time management
  • Writing a covering letter and a CV
  • Examination preparation
  • Group work skills

 Course specific assessment workshops:

We liaise closely with lecturers and tutors to design and deliver specifically tailored workshops based on students’ assessment within their courses.

 Bridging Programs:

We design and deliver (in close collaboration with academic staff) Bridging Programs before the commencement of the semester for all postgraduate coursework students who are newly arrived to Australia and/or the University of Adelaide. The aim of the Bridging Programs is to facilitate your understanding of and adaptation to the academic culture of Australian Tertiary Education. It is integrated with your coursework, and is designed to equip you with the time management, academic reading and interpretation, writing, listening and presentation skills required of your Masters Program. Enhancement of critical thinking and problem solving skills form an integral component of the program. The Bridging Programs are offered in all Schools throughout the Faculty.
