2017 Business, Economics and Law Achievers Scholarships for Malaysian students

The Faculty of the Professions' Business, Economics and Law Achievers Scholarships are available to Malaysian students who are seeking entry into one of the priority undergraduate programs in Semester 1 or 2 in 2017 using an eligible Pre-University or Diploma result. The Scholarship provides a one-off AUD 8000 payment for living allowances under the conditions described below.

  • Eligibility Requirements

    In order to be eligible for consideration a student must:

    • Have applied to study in either Business, Economics or Law undergraduate program as listed in Annex B (See below: Annex B – 2017 Priority Undergraduate Programs) and be offered admission in Semester 1 or 2 in 2017 at the University of Adelaide AND
    • Commence an academic program for the first time at the University of Adelaide AND;
    • Have undertaken the Pre-University examination in Malaysia Or;
    • Completed a Diploma qualification by June 2017 (for admission in semester 2, 2017) with a GPA of 3.2 (out of 4) or above AND;
    • Be a citizen of Malaysia
  • Selection Criteria

    The Scholarships will be awarded for academic excellence to outstanding Malaysian students. Applications will be assessed on the basis of your Pre-University results or Diploma GPA plus a motivational letter outlining reasons why you wish to receive this scholarship.

    • Extra-curricular achievements will not be considered. Applicants in receipt of other Scholarships offered by the University of Adelaide are NOT eligible to apply.
    • In order to be selected as a Scholarship recipient, you must:
      • Have completed a Diploma with a GPA of 3.2 or above (out of 4) or achieve the minimum required pre-University score as detailed in Annex B (See below: Annex B – 2017 Priority Undergraduate Programs) AND
      • Furnish a completed online application form by:
        • 25 June 2017 for Semester 2 of 2017.
  • Benefits

    The Faculty will grant Scholarships of AUD $8000 each to applicants commencing in one of the priority Bachelor degrees in Semester 1 and Semester 2 of 2017. The Scholarships will be awarded in order of merit. The Scholarship provides a one-of, non-renewable payment for living allowances only and will be paid to the Scholarship recipient upon their arrival in Adelaide.

  • VISA Entitlement and Requirements

    Scholarship recipients are required to meet the cost of compulsory Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), tuition fees, living costs and cost of return airfares. These costs will not be covered by the Scholarship.

  • Commencement

    The Scholarship must be taken up in the semester and year for which it is offered. The University may withdraw the Scholarship if a candidate fails to provide any required documentation or provide false or misleading documentation.

  • Deferment and Withdrawal

    It is not possible to defer the award and the Scholarship cannot be transferred to any other institution.

    Students who subsequently withdraw from their program of study at the University before the census date for Semester 1 (31 Mar 2017)  or Semester 2 (31 August 2017) must repay the Scholarship to the University in its entirety. Any outstanding repayments will be deducted from the tuition fee refund.

  • Application Process

    An application for admission to the University in 2017 will constitute an application for a Scholarship provided that a completed Scholarship application form is also forwarded electronically to the Faculty by 30 April 2017.

    Successful recipients will receive the Scholarship offer from the Faculty of the Professions. All applications will be assessed on a merit-based selection process. To accept the Scholarship, the recipient MUST accept the University offer of admissions by the deadline stipulated in the Scholarship offer letter. If no response is received by the specified deadline, the offer of the Scholarship will lapse and will be offered to the next eligible candidate.

    The University reserves the right not to award the Scholarships if there are no candidates of sufficient merit as determined in each case, or to amend the availability of Scholarships and/or the information provided in the Scholarships details at anytime.
